Urban Plunge - Comfort his aching heart.....

He had no idea we were coming or how God ordained that time to comfort his aching heart.....

What a great weekend we had at the Fresno Rescue Mission. 39 people from Clovis Christian, including some stellar young parents with little ones, partnered with the Mission for an Urban Plunge. We had a great time building our Faith Family together through serving together and laughing together. We were blessed to help with a Mothers Day event, do some Saturday Sports with inner city schools, hear incredible testimonies from men whom God has transformed and redeemed, as well as some fun relay games with some of the Disciples they have there.

After a fun blue-grass, dancing and praising worship service and a message brought by a faithful pastor, we were saying our goodbyes. And one gentleman, he is newer to the mission and had recently gotten out of jail. With tears in his eyes he told us how hard it was to stay there. To not be with his kids on their birthdays, one who's birthday was that exact day. That he knew he needed the help but didn't know if he could stay. It was so hard and weighing on him. But it was through those tears that he said, "I didn't know you were coming. And you bringing your children here and playing games with us, and befriending us, it helped me so much. When I wanted to leave I felt encouraged to stay, that I could do this. So thank you, thank you for coming."
